  About Johanna

Some sort of craft business was always in my future. I am not sure when I first knew it... when my mother taught me flower arranging, tole painting, how to make a pillow for my brother for Christmas, or if it was when Mom took me to craft fairs for inspiration. Whenever it was, I have known for quite some time that no desk job would ever satisfy my creativity, and that even if only as a supplement to a job that pays the bills, I wanted the world to have access to the beautiful things I can make.

I started making jewelry when I was 10 years old, stringing plastic beads on strands pulled from a friend's string mobile (with her permission). By the time I reached high school I had started stringing better quality beads on materials actually intended for beading. Once out in the real world with a real job, I discovered the joy of working with and wearing genuine Swarovski crystals and pure gemstones. Now I would like you to enjoy that as well. I apprenticed with a metalsmith, a fantastic experience that came to an abrupt end with her untimely death, but I worked with her long enough to know that I could not be happy sitting behind a desk at a 9 to 5 job, and having jewelry only be a part time vocation. I am now a work at home Mom, trying to keep up with a one year old (and growing his little brother, arriving in April!) and making jewelry every chance I get.

I hope that you will find my philosophy on jewelry to be a logical one. I believe that your jewelry wardrobe should be as versatile and hard-working for you as your clothing wardrobe. This is why I try to make pieces that mix and match like your favorite comfortable jeans and t-shirts, and some that are as dazzling as sequined evening wear. Hopefully you will find the piece that will become, as far as your jewelry is concerned, your new little black dress.
